性狀(以下信息僅供參考)：黃色或橙色結晶粉末或薄片。無熔點，約250℃色變深并炭化。溶于熱的*和硫酸，略溶于乙酸、酚、吡啶、氫氧化堿和碳酸堿溶液，少溶于乙醇和丁醇，微溶于甲醇，極微溶于冷水(25℃,0.0016mG/ml)，沸水中約可溶1%，不溶于乙醚、丙酮、氯仿和苯。1G葉酸于10ml水中的懸浮液，pH 4.0～4.8。與碳酸氫鈉制備的溶液pH6.5～6.8。zui大吸收波長（pH 13）：256、283、368nm(logε4.43、4.40、3.96）。比旋光度[α]25D +23°(c=0.5,0.1mol/L氫氧化鈉溶液中)。
